Providing expert witness service to the legal profession, both plaintiff and defense, in matters relating to insurance coverage issues, good faith/bad faith claims handling, industry practices, damage valuations and subrogation. I have over 35 years experience as a salvor, independent insurance adjuster, public adjuster and educator in adjusting. Throughout this time period, I have personally handled over 10,000 claims ranging from small homeowners losses to multi-million dollar commercial losses, including manufacturing losses and a specialty steel mill. I have acted as an appraiser as well as having been appointed as an umpire over 85 times in the last twelve years to settle disputes between insureds and insurers. I have also been engaged by Counsel in litigation matters more than 65 times in the last 10 years. I am recognized as an honest, objective and impartial individual in the claims industry. |

EXPERIENCE:
2008-Present Litigation support-in addition to handling claims, I have been engaged over 65 times as a consultant or expert witness by either plaintiff or defense Counsel. Public Adjuster with Stephen R. Figlin, Inc. cordinating and handling claims and assisting in various consulting assignments. 2006 Engaged by Claims International to provide office management and organizational services as well as claims handling. 2005 Appointed as impartial umpire by The Court of Common-Schuylkill County. 1997 Received designation of Registered Professional Adjuster. Named to National Advisory Council - Eastern Region - NAIIA. Formed JBK Consultants, Litigation Support. Proposed and taught "Property Claims Adjusting" for the Insurance Society of Philadelphia (ISOP). Also taught other seminars for the ISOP. Named as adjuster of record for Delaware Valley Insurance Trust. Engaged by Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Co. to assist in training of staff adjusters in first party property claims. 1990 Founded my own firm of J.B. Kipphut & Associates, Inc. to engage in the investigation, evaluation and adjustment of first party property insurance claims on behalf of insurance companies. 1973-1990 Partner and adjuster in the firm of William J. Miller Jr., Associates, Inc. Started as an adjuster in 1973, made a partner in the firm in 1981. Activities included adjusting homeowners and commercial losses as well as cargo and inland marine losses. Acted as both appraiser and umpire in numerous disputes between various insurance companies and insureds. Heavily involved in administrative functions and responsibilities. In charge of firm move from Philadelphia to Plymouth Meeting, PA (1988). 1972-1973 Employed by the Underwriters Salvage Company of New York as a Superintendent of salvage. Responsible for inventories, movement of salvage for sale and/or protection as well as determination of loss and damage figures on stock losses. 1971-1972 Counterintelligence Staff Officer, assigned to the 219th Military Intelligence Detachment III Corps HQ, United States Army, Republic of Vietnam. 1970-1971 Executive Officer and then Commanding Officer of the Tampa Field Office (Florida) 111th Military Intelligence Group, United States Army. 1969-1970 Attended Armor Officers Basic School at Fort Knox, Kentucky and the Counterintelligence Officers Course at Fort Holabird, Maryland. |
